Project Overview
Ingebretsen's, a traditional Nordic shop, faced a critical decision when support for Magento 1 ended in June 2020. With a deep heritage rooted in local community values, the Minneapolis-based store prioritized hiring a local developer for their migration to Magento 2, a necessity for maintaining their complex point-of-sale system. This led them to Wagento Commerce, coincidentally connecting with a developer whose ancestor was a business competitor to Ingebretsen's founder.
The migration, executed by Wagento, focused on minimizing customization to keep costs manageable for the small business. This approach ensured a seamless transition to Magento 2 Community Edition, aligning with the store's needs without overextending its budget. Launched in October 2020, amidst challenges from the pandemic and local unrest, the new platform proved timely. It supported a shift to online and curbside sales, vital during the destruction following the Minneapolis protests. This upgrade was crucial as Ingebretsen's prepared for the peak Christmas season, anticipating a significant increase in online sales, and was celebrated as part of their 100th anniversary, marking a century of resilience and adaptation.
