Project Overview
Parents of children with learning and attention issues have historically been challenged with finding valuable and usable help for managing their child’s learning and attention issues. Understood.org was created by the Poses Family Foundation, a New York City–based philanthropic foundation founded by Nancy and Fred Poses, to bring together the best resources available and present them in a way that makes it easy for parents and their families to use. The site offers researched and tested tools and strategies to help, as well as connecting users with other families facing similar challenges. Challenge The Poses Family Foundation realized that, despite the vast amount of information available, no one had organized and presented tools and information in a way that was easy to understand and put into action. Understood.org aggregates information from 15 disparate organizations, bringing them together in a rich, well researched, and highly personalized collection of easy to use and engaging resources. Strategy The overall architecture of the site employs many of the best features of the Sitecore CMS platform. It seamlessly integrates closely with other best-in-class enterprise applications such as Telligent, ExactTarget, Salesforce, and Brightcove to deliver proven functionality to users. The site effectively offers both end users and content/marketing managers a best-in-class experience to deliver useful and consumable information to parents. In addition, ongoing site managed services support ensures full-time site monitoring and uptime. Results The site has performed strongly since launch with over 629,487 total site visits, 1,625,456 total page views, 435,831 unique visitors and a 30% visitor return rate. Traffic has been generated by email and social media campaigns run by the 15 nonprofits that support Understood.org. and significant traffic has been seen following a national ad campaign supported by the Ad Council. In addition, the managed services support from Agency Oasis delivers key strategic content and technology guidance to advance the website.
